Strengthening Capacity and Traffic Flow, Widening of the Surabaya–Gempol Section Enhances Travel Comfort Along the Trans Java Corridor
Surabaya (16/04) – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving service quality through the acceleration of the widening project on the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road, specifically on the Kejapanan–Gempol segment (KM 769+450 to KM 772+650). As of the 32nd week of implementation, project progress has reached 69.72% and is expected to deliver a significant impact on traffic flow along one of the vital corridors of the Trans Java network.
Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that this capacity enhancement focuses not only on physical infrastructure development but also on improving the overall travel experience for road users.
“We understand that smooth travel is a primary expectation for every road user, especially on high-mobility corridors such as Surabaya–Gempol. Through the widening of the Kejapanan–Gempol segment, which serves as a connecting route between Surabaya and Malang and plays an important role in traffic distribution, JTT aims to deliver a more comfortable, safer, and less congested travel experience, allowing the public to directly benefit from improved mobility in every journey,” said Ria.
Furthermore, this capacity enhancement also plays an important role in supporting more efficient logistics distribution and strengthening interregional connectivity in East Java. With smoother traffic flow, travel time becomes more optimal, generating broader economic benefits for both the public and the business sector.
The scope of work includes pavement strengthening, bridge structure works, and the enhancement of road equipment such as traffic signs and road markings. All works are carried out by prioritizing Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) aspects and in accordance with the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) for toll roads to ensure reliable and sustainable outcomes.
During the implementation, JTT also ensures that each stage of the project is executed in a structured manner with adaptive and situational traffic management. This approach is intended to ensure that road users can continue to travel safely and comfortably throughout the construction period.
The capacity improvement on this section is expected to serve as a long-term solution in anticipating future traffic growth while further strengthening the role of the Trans Java Toll Road as the backbone of national connectivity.
JTT urges road users to remain cautious, comply with traffic signs, and follow the instructions of officers on duty. Please ensure that vehicles are in prime condition and that electronic toll balances are sufficient before traveling.
