Long Holiday Momentum Boosts Tourism Mobility, Travel Towards Southern East Java Increases
Surabaya (15/05) – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) recorded an increase in vehicle mobility towards the southern region of East Java during the 2026 Ascension of Jesus Christ long holiday period on the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road. The increase in traffic volume was observed at several toll gates serving as access points to tourism areas and connecting routes towards Porong and Malang.
Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated, “The long holiday momentum has been utilized by the public for tourism and family visits to several areas in East Java, particularly towards southern destinations such as Malang, Batu, and surrounding areas. This trend can be seen from the increase in vehicle volume at the Kejapanan Toll Gate,” said Ria.
Based on traffic data from H-1 to H Day of the 2026 Ascension of Jesus Christ long holiday period, JTT recorded 9,025 vehicles passing through Kejapanan 1 Toll Gate towards Malang, an increase of 2.80% compared to the normal traffic volume of 8,779 vehicles. Meanwhile, vehicles heading towards Jakarta through Kejapanan 2 Toll Gate totaled 6,907 vehicles, a decrease of 4.06% compared to the normal traffic volume of 7,199 vehicles.
These conditions indicate increasing public mobility towards the southern region of East Java, which is widely known as a connecting corridor to several popular tourist destinations such as Batu City, the Greater Malang tourism area, and various natural tourism destinations across East Java.
Ria added that, in general, traffic conditions on the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road during the long holiday period remained smooth and under control. JTT continues to ensure optimal operational services through the readiness of officers, transaction services, toll road patrols, and intensive coordination with the Police.
“JTT once again urges all road users to ensure travel readiness, check vehicle conditions and sufficient electronic money balance before entering the toll road, and continue complying with traffic signs and officers’ instructions in the field for the safety and comfort of all road users,” concluded Ria.
