Ascension Day Long Holiday Triggers Traffic Surge, Vehicle Volume Towards Eastern Trans Java Increases by 40%

Cikampek (15/05) – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) recorded an increase in traffic volume during the H-1 to H Day period (May 13–14, 2026) of the 2026 Ascension of Jesus Christ long holiday. A total of 77,198 vehicles were recorded traveling towards the Eastern Trans Java region through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate. This figure increased by 40.41% compared to the normal traffic volume of 54,982 vehicles.

Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated, “Based on daily traffic data for Shift 1 on Friday, May 15, 2026, a total of 9,890 vehicles were recorded traveling towards the Eastern Trans Java region through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate. This figure increased by 1.47% compared to the normal traffic volume of 9,747 vehicles,” explained Ria.

Meanwhile, vehicles traveling from the Eastern Trans Java region towards Jakarta through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate totaled 55,424 vehicles, an increase of 7.12% compared to the normal traffic volume of 51,742 vehicles.

Increased vehicle volume was also observed on several toll road sections managed by JTT Group in the Central Java and East Java regions.

Central Java Region
a. Kalikangkung Toll Gate
Vehicles heading towards Semarang totaled 45,452 vehicles (up 42.68% from the normal volume of 31,856 vehicles). Meanwhile, vehicles leaving Semarang towards Jakarta reached 28,525 vehicles (down 0.98% from the normal volume of 28,808 vehicles).

b. Banyumanik Toll Gate
Traffic heading towards Solo totaled 64,357 vehicles (up 55.11% from the normal volume of 41,491 vehicles). Meanwhile, traffic towards Jakarta reached 40,492 vehicles (up 24.10% from the normal volume of 32,629 vehicles).

East Java Region
a. Warugunung Toll Gate
Vehicles heading towards Surabaya totaled 40,612 vehicles (up 6.24% from the normal volume of 38,225 vehicles), while traffic towards Jakarta reached 42,303 vehicles (up 16.48% from the normal volume of 36,317 vehicles).

b. Kejapanan Utama Toll Gate
A total of 54,872 vehicles were recorded heading towards Malang (up 29.25% from the normal volume of 42,454 vehicles), while 50,180 vehicles were heading towards Surabaya (up 8.10% from the normal volume of 46,420 vehicles).

c. Singosari Toll Gate
Vehicles heading towards Malang totaled 32,314 vehicles (up 35.92% from the normal volume of 23,775 vehicles), while traffic towards Surabaya reached 26,997 vehicles (up 24.15% from the normal volume of 21,746 vehicles).

PT JTT urges Trans Java toll road users to continue prioritizing safety, plan their journeys properly, ensure both vehicles and drivers are in prime condition, and confirm sufficient fuel and electronic money balance before traveling.
