Early Anticipation of the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year Return Traffic, JTT Optimizes Services on Four Strategic Trans Java Toll Road Sections
Cikampek (28/12) – As public mobility begins to shift into the early phase of the return traffic flow for the 2025 Christmas holiday, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has prepared and optimized operational service readiness early on across four main sections of the Trans Java Toll Road. This effort is carried out to ensure that toll road users can continue to travel safely, comfortably, and smoothly amid the potential increase in traffic volume toward the 2026 New Year period.
The four Trans Java Toll Road sections that are the focus of return traffic service readiness include the Jakarta–Cikampek Section, the Palimanan–Kanci Section, the Semarang Sections A, B, and C, as well as the Surabaya–Gempol Section. These four sections serve as strategic corridors supporting vehicle movement from eastern regions toward western areas of Java Island during the Nataru return traffic period.
Based on traffic monitoring and projections, JTT has identified two periods of increased vehicle volume. The first increase is estimated to begin today, 28 December 2025, as indicated by the implementation of traffic engineering in the form of contraflow starting at 16:16 WIB and remaining in effect at the time of this release on the Jakarta–Cikampek Section, from KM 70 to KM 47, in line with the rising volume of vehicles traveling toward western regions.
Meanwhile, the increase in traffic volume during the return flow of the 2026 New Year holiday is predicted to occur on 4 January 2026, with projected traffic reaching 51,071 vehicles or an increase of approximately 34% compared to normal traffic conditions. In anticipation of this trend, JTT has prepared gradual and measured traffic management measures to ensure that vehicle flow remains under control.
As part of operational readiness, JTT has optimized integrated traffic management, maximized toll gate operations, and deployed personnel at strategic points such as toll gates, rest areas, and congestion-prone locations. All personnel are on standby 24 hours a day to ensure optimal service delivery and rapid response to traffic dynamics in the field.
In addition to human resource readiness, JTT ensures that all toll road sections remain in proper operating condition through real-time traffic monitoring. Intensive coordination is also continuously carried out with the Police regarding the implementation of traffic engineering measures, as well as with support from the Ministry of Transportation and other relevant agencies in managing traffic flow and controlling vehicle movement during the Nataru return period.
To support smoother traffic distribution and provide direct benefits to the public, JTT is also implementing a 20% toll tariff discount on 31 December 2025 from 00:00 to 24:00 WIB on the Trans Java Toll Road sections under its management, in accordance with applicable provisions. This program is expected to encourage better travel time distribution among toll road users so that congestion can be more evenly dispersed.
JTT urges all Trans Java toll road users to plan their trips carefully, manage travel times to avoid peak hours, and ensure that both vehicles and drivers are in prime condition. Toll road users are also expected to comply with traffic signs and officers’ instructions, as well as to increase vigilance, particularly under weather conditions with relatively high rainfall intensity that may affect visibility and driving safety.
With service readiness implemented since the early phase of the return traffic flow, JTT is committed to continuously delivering the best possible services to support the smooth flow of the 2025/2026 Nataru return traffic and to provide a safe and comfortable travel experience for all toll road users.
