Main Connector of Trans Java, Batang–Semarang Toll Road Drives Industrial Area Development in Central Java

Semarang (14/01) – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) affirms that the Batang–Semarang Toll Road is one of the strategic corridors of Trans Java that plays an important role in supporting regional connectivity in Central Java while also encouraging the growth of industrial areas in the region. With a total length of approximately 75 kilometers, this toll road serves as a main connector for the movement of people and goods from the western to the eastern part of Java Island.

As part of its support for the Government’s program to strengthen the national economy, JTT notes the operation of the Batang Industrial Area Interchange as a direct access connecting the Batang–Semarang Toll Road with the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB). The presence of this access is expected to increase investment attractiveness, accelerate logistics distribution, and open opportunities for job creation in Central Java.

The Batang–Semarang Toll Road is an integral part of the Trans Java Toll Road network that connects three main areas in Central Java Province, namely Semarang City, Kendal Regency, and Batang Regency. This section is directly connected to the Semarang Toll Road Sections A, B, and C on the eastern side, as well as the Pemalang–Batang Toll Road on the western side, forming a continuous transportation corridor.

To support smooth mobility and service for road users, six toll gates are currently operating along the Batang–Semarang section, namely Kalikangkung, Kaliwungu, Kendal, Weleri, KIT Batang, and Kandeman Toll Gates. In addition, four Rest Areas (Tempat Istirahat dan Pelayanan/TIP) are available at KM 360 B, KM 379 A, KM 389 B, and KM 391 A, equipped with various facilities to support travel safety and comfort.

Various supporting services are also provided along this section, including Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), ATMs, playgrounds and disability-friendly facilities at rest areas, a hotel at Rest Area 379, 24-hour free towing service to the nearest toll gate, CCTV monitoring, and real-time traffic condition information through Dynamic Message Signs (DMS).

Vice President of Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that the Batang–Semarang Toll Road is presented not only as a regional connector but also as part of efforts to bring the benefits of infrastructure closer to the community. “We developed the Batang–Semarang Toll Road to facilitate community mobility, accelerate goods distribution, and open opportunities for economic activity growth in Central Java. With improved connectivity, we hope this toll road can become a driver for industrial areas, create job opportunities, and provide positive impacts that can be directly felt by the surrounding community,” said Ria.

The presence of the Batang–Semarang Toll Road has delivered tangible benefits for road users through improved interregional connectivity and travel time efficiency. Travel between Batang Regency and Semarang City, and vice versa, can be completed approximately one hour faster compared to non-toll routes, thereby supporting smoother community mobility and logistics distribution.

Furthermore, JTT considers that this toll road section also contributes to regional economic growth in Central Java through the creation of new business opportunities, support for the tourism sector, and the reduction of traffic burden on national roads. Thus, the Batang–Semarang Toll Road functions not only as transportation infrastructure, but also as a driver of sustainable regional development.
