Anticipating the 2026 New Year Holiday Return Traffic, JTT Optimizes Services at 401 Toll Booths Across Four Trans Java Segments
Cikampek (03/01) – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Toll (JTT) continues to enhance service readiness in anticipation of the return traffic flow following the 2026 New Year holiday, which began to increase on January 1, 2026 and is expected to continue until January 4, 2026. These efforts are focused on optimizing services at 401 toll booths across four main Trans Java segments, particularly to serve vehicle movements from the eastern to the western Trans Java corridor.
As part of traffic flow monitoring, the first peak of return traffic occurred on Saturday, December 28, 2025, with vehicle volume from the eastern Trans Java region reaching approximately 55,729 vehicles, or an increase of around 46% compared to normal traffic of 38,130 vehicles. This realization was higher than JTT’s initial projection, which was previously estimated at 52,934 vehicles or a 39% increase from normal conditions, in line with increased public mobility following the Christmas holiday and the beginning of the New Year.
In addition to the return traffic peak on December 28, 2025, JTT also projects the next return traffic peak to occur on January 4, 2026. On that date, vehicle volume from the eastern Trans Java region is estimated to reach 50,171 vehicles, or an increase of approximately 34% compared to normal traffic recorded at 38,130 vehicles.
As an anticipatory measure, JTT has optimized transaction service readiness at both entrance and exit toll gates across the four main Trans Java segments. On the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road section, JTT operates 209 toll booths across 35 strategic toll gates to support smooth return traffic toward the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. Meanwhile, on the Palimanan–Kanci Toll Road section, a total of 33 toll booths across 7 toll gates are on standby to accommodate vehicle movements from Central Java to West Java.
In Central Java, JTT operates 37 toll booths at 9 toll gates on the Semarang Toll Road Sections A, B, and C to maintain smooth intercity traffic flow. In East Java, a total of 122 toll booths at 18 toll gates on the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road section are operated to serve return traffic from east to west across the Trans Java corridor.
In addition to toll gate readiness, JTT also ensures the preparedness of field officers, the reliability of road safety facilities, and intensive coordination with the Police and related agencies. Traffic management is carried out situationally in accordance with traffic density dynamics in the field to maintain smooth flow and ensure road user safety.
VP Corporate Secretary & Legal of JTT, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that all these measures are part of the company’s commitment to delivering the best service during the return traffic period. “We are optimizing service readiness, particularly at strategic return traffic points, to ensure that road users’ journeys are safe, smooth, and comfortable. Our officers remain on full standby to respond to any traffic dynamics in the field,” said Ria.
JTT urges road users to plan their trips carefully, ensure that vehicles and drivers are in good condition, and comply with traffic signs and officers’ directions. Road users are also encouraged to use rest areas wisely to maintain safety during their journey.
