Strengthening Slope Stability at Karawang Barat Ramp, JTT Carries Out Measured Handling of Soil Movement
Karawang (10/02) – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) continues to take preventive measures to maintain toll road infrastructure reliability through the handling of soil movement at the Karawang Barat 2 Off Ramp of the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road. This effort forms part of the company’s commitment to ensuring that road users’ journeys remain safe, comfortable, and smooth.
The handling was carried out based on periodic slope condition monitoring. As an initial step, JTT conducted site clearing at the location of the soil movement to support further technical investigation. JTT subsequently performed a soil investigation using the borehole method to determine soil characteristics and identify the depth and movement pattern at the site. The investigation results identified two soil movement points that have become the focus of further handling.
As part of efforts to reinforce the slope structure, JTT has also carried out a stake-out process to determine the construction plan for a new drainage channel along the outer side and at the toe of the slope to enhance the drainage system. The handling plan utilizes an area outside the Right of Way (ROW), approximately ±4.5 meters from the ROW boundary, to ensure effective water flow control and soil stability around the location.
All works are being implemented gradually while prioritizing the safety of road users and on-site personnel. As of February 9, 2026, the initial handling works are progressing according to plan and remain under intensive supervision through routine field inspections.
VP Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that slope stability handling is part of the company’s commitment to safeguarding public travel, particularly amid weather conditions with relatively high rainfall in several operational areas. “We understand that periodic rainfall may affect soil stability at certain toll road infrastructure points. Therefore, JTT conducts intensive monitoring and phased technical handling to ensure that slopes remain stable and safe for road users. For us, every journey is not merely about mobility, but also about ensuring a sense of safety and comfort throughout the trip,” said Ria.
Ria added that all works are carried out with a precautionary approach and continuous supervision to anticipate potential service disruptions at an early stage. “Our personnel continue to conduct routine inspections, particularly in areas potentially affected by weather conditions. JTT is committed to ensuring that every activity is carried out optimally without compromising the safety of road users and field personnel. We also appreciate the public’s attention and participation in providing information regarding road conditions,” she added.
JTT urges road users to remain cautious, observe traffic signs and officers’ instructions, and adjust vehicle speed when passing near the work area for shared safety.
As part of its commitment to providing information services to road users, JTT continues to deliver traffic condition updates through the company’s official channels. Traffic information across the Jasa Marga Group toll road network can be accessed via the 24-hour One Call Center at 14080 and the TRAVOY application available on iOS and Android.
