Traffic Conditions on Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road Remain Managed Amid Increased Vehicle Volume
Cikampek (19/03) – PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) stated that traffic conditions on the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road on Thursday (19/03) experienced slowdowns at several points due to a significant increase in vehicle volume ahead of the Idulfitri 1447H/2026 holiday period. This aligns with the rising mobility of people traveling toward the eastern Trans Java region.
VP Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, explained that the increase in passing vehicles has impacted travel speeds at several points. “We understand that this condition may affect the comfort of road users, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused. The significant increase in vehicle volume has led to slower traffic flow at several points; however, traffic is still moving and there are no toll road access closures,” said Ria.
JTT traffic data shows a significant increase in vehicles heading toward the eastern Trans Java region through Cikampek Utama Toll Gate. During Shift 3 on March 18, 2026, a total of 51,338 vehicles were recorded heading east, an increase of 421.20% compared to the normal traffic volume of 9,850 vehicles.
In addition to the high volume of vehicles, the condition was also influenced by several vehicle disturbances occurring in the travel lanes amid high traffic intensity. Field officers, together with the Police, immediately handled and evacuated the affected vehicles swiftly to minimize the impact on traffic flow.
Since the increase in traffic volume occurred, JTT in coordination with the Police has implemented contraflow traffic management in a measured and situational manner to maintain traffic distribution. The contraflow arrangement is carried out dynamically through an open-close mechanism based on Police discretion.
JTT ensures that all traffic engineering schemes have been implemented according to procedures with full support from field officers, including the installation of signs and directions toward contraflow lanes at each access point, as well as the presence of officers actively directing vehicles to ensure safe traffic transitions.
With vehicle volumes exceeding normal capacity, travel speeds become more limited. Nevertheless, traffic flow remains maintained and continues to move gradually. JTT continues to optimize services by ensuring the readiness of personnel, facilities, infrastructure, and intensive coordination with the Police to maintain safety and smooth travel for road users.
Ria also urged road users before starting their journey, “We urge all road users to prioritize safety by ensuring that both the driver and vehicle are in prime condition before starting the journey. Road users are also expected to follow the directions of officers in the field, pay attention to traffic signs and information through Variable Message Signs (VMS), and plan their trips well so that the journey remains safe and comfortable until reaching the destination,” explained Ria.
