Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road Supports Regional Connectivity and Economic Mobility in East Java
Surabaya (06/02) – The ±49-kilometer Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road, managed by PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT), continues to demonstrate its strategic contribution in supporting public mobility and economic growth in East Java. This toll road serves as a vital corridor connecting Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Pasuruan, and is integrated with the Trans Java Toll Road network, namely the Surabaya–Mojokerto, Gempol–Pasuruan, and Gempol–Pandaan Toll Roads, which play an important role in strengthening interregional connectivity.
The presence of the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road provides travel efficiency for both the public and business actors. Travel from Surabaya to the Gempol area and its surroundings via arterial roads can take more than one hour under heavy traffic conditions. By utilizing the toll road, travel time becomes faster and more predictable, thereby supporting daily community mobility as well as the smooth distribution of logistics.
As a connecting corridor between Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Gempol, the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road delivers tangible benefits to road users by improving travel time efficiency. Based on digital map application calculations, travel from Surabaya to Gempol via arterial roads may take more than one hour. By using the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road, travel time can be reduced to approximately ±30–40 minutes, making journeys more efficient, comfortable, and predictable.
This travel time efficiency not only supports daily community mobility but also benefits the logistics and goods distribution sectors. The Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road serves as a strategic route connecting industrial areas in Surabaya and Sidoarjo to Pasuruan and the Trans Java Toll Road network, thereby supporting supply chain continuity and regional economic activities.
In addition to strengthening interregional connectivity, the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road also facilitates access to various industrial zones, logistics centers, and tourism destinations in East Java, such as Trawas, Tretes, and surrounding areas. Improved accessibility contributes to increased regional economic activity and enhances the area’s competitiveness.

Given the strategic role of this corridor, Ria added that JTT consistently carries out routine maintenance activities to maintain the quality and reliability of toll road infrastructure. These efforts include pavement maintenance, optimization of safety facilities, and periodic traffic condition monitoring to ensure that road users’ journeys remain safe and comfortable.
In addition to maintaining infrastructure reliability, JTT continues to strengthen synergy with stakeholders to support growth in areas surrounding the toll road. The presence of the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road forms part of JTT’s commitment to enhancing national connectivity while delivering sustainable social and economic benefits to the community.
To support road user comfort, JTT also provides Rest and Service Areas (TIP) along the Surabaya–Gempol Toll Road, located at KM 754 A toward Gempol and KM 753 B toward Surabaya. These facilities are equipped with various supporting amenities such as parking areas, restrooms, places of worship, food courts, and other supporting facilities that road users can utilize before continuing their journey.
To further enhance user convenience, JTT provides 24-hour traffic information services through the One Call Center at 14080 and the Travoy application available for download on iOS and Android devices. Through these services, road users can plan their trips more easily, safely, and comfortably.
