Facing Extreme Weather, JTT Intensifies Maintenance on the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road

Bekasi (26/01) – In response to extreme weather with high rainfall intensity throughout January 2026, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has strengthened its operational preparedness by accelerating maintenance activities to ensure the safety and comfort of users of the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road.

JTT has observed that continuous high rainfall intensity has the potential to affect pavement conditions. Rainwater can penetrate the pores of the asphalt layer (water penetration), weakening the bond between pavement materials (stripping). When combined with high traffic loads, these conditions may accelerate surface deterioration. Therefore, JTT continues to conduct intensive monitoring and prompt handling at locations potentially experiencing pavement quality degradation.

As part of its operational preparedness, JTT has deployed 12 work teams, consisting of 6 teams on Line A (toward Cikampek) and 6 teams on Line B (toward Jakarta). All teams are on standby 24 hours a day to conduct monitoring and rapid response in the field to maintain traffic safety and flow.

As a concrete implementation of this preparedness, JTT has been intensively carrying out maintenance works at various points along the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road. On January 24, 2026, repair works were conducted in stages on the Cikampek-bound direction from KM 6+700 to KM 62+500 and on the Jakarta-bound direction from KM 19+050 to KM 71+500 as a preventive measure to maintain toll road infrastructure quality amid high rainfall. These maintenance activities include prompt and measurable pavement repairs at locations affected by extreme weather conditions.

Alongside these efforts, JTT has also carried out maintenance and optimization of the drainage system along the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road. The activities include drainage normalization works at several points, namely KM 9 B, KM 31, KM 32 A, and KM 34 B, through channel cleaning, sediment removal, and ensuring optimal water flow to prevent water ponding on the roadway, particularly during periods of high rainfall.

VP Corporate Secretary & Legal of JTT, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated that toll road maintenance amid extreme weather conditions reflects the company’s commitment to placing road user safety as the top priority.

“The maintenance we carry out not only focuses on pavement and drainage system improvements but is also supported by preventive measures through vehicle load monitoring using Weight In Motion (WIM) technology, which is being gradually developed on strategic sections. This initiative aims to support the sustainability of toll road infrastructure quality and to deliver safe, comfortable, and reliable journeys for users of the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road,” said Ria.

As part of efforts to ensure information is well communicated to the public, JTT actively disseminates work notifications through advisory banners around work locations and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) in both directions of the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road.

“We apologize for any inconvenience that may arise during the maintenance process. We urge road users to plan their travel time accordingly, ensure their vehicles are in prime condition, and always comply with traffic signs and instructions from officers on site,” Ria added.

Considering the potential for continued high rainfall at any time, JTT emphasizes that monitoring and maintenance activities will continue to be carried out sustainably. JTT remains committed to strengthening operational preparedness to ensure infrastructure quality is maintained and road users’ journeys remain safe and comfortable.
